Service focus

Sound knowledge, a practical work plan.

Weld quality depends on the welder's level of skill. Testing the ability to follow verbal and written instructions and demonstrate proficiency is therefore important for product quality. Before examination, welder training aims to identify and develop the practices that welders need to observe during welding.

Who is it for?

Technical personnel, engineers and implementation coordinators working in the relevant field.

Critical points

Details that affect the outcome of the work

01

Instruction scope

Match welding process, material and joint information before work begins. Emphasise that an instruction prepared for another application should not be transferred automatically.

02

Application variables

Preparation, consumables, equipment settings and operation sequence may affect results. Examine how changes connect to records and responsibilities.

03

Practical skills

Examine how material preparation, joint arrangements and disciplined working affect weld quality. Determine practical scope according to participant experience and safe facilities.

Our training service

Welder training

We help your team interpret the topic, ask the right questions and apply it in their own work.

Skills you will gain in training

  • Compare pre-weld material and joint preparation against the relevant instruction.
  • Identify variables and record needs to monitor during welding.
  • Prepare clear records linking observed weld conditions to inspection criteria.

Training content

Content is developed in greater depth according to participants’ roles and practical needs.

  • Defining Welding Techniques
  • Welding Equipment
  • Welding processes covered: 111 — Manual metal arc welding (metal arc welding with covered electrodes); 114 — Self-shielded tubular-cored arc welding; 121 — Submerged arc welding with one wire electrode; 125 — Submerged arc welding with tubular-cored electrodes; 131 — Metal inert gas welding (MIG); 135 — Metal active gas welding (MAG); 136 — Tubular-cored metal arc welding with active shielding gas; 138 — Metal-cored arc welding with active shielding gas; 141 — Tungsten inert gas welding (TIG); 142 — Autogenous TIG welding; 142 — TIG welding with tubular-cored filler material; 145 — TIG welding with reducing gas and solid filler material; 15 — Plasma arc welding; 311 — Oxy-acetylene welding (G)

Two similar-looking welds can have different penetration or fusion conditions. Manual skill is assessed together with joint preparation, access, consumables and the defined procedure. Training uses practical examples to explain why surface appearance cannot establish the quality of the whole weld.

WPS interpretation, pre-weld checks and interpass observations are connected. Control points are identified where an imperfection may first arise, rather than only at completion. Practical work is planned around the chosen method and safe working conditions.

Participants examine an example drawing with difficult access to the weld area. They assess preparation and positioning options, distinguishing issues that can be resolved within the procedure from changes requiring technical review.

Do not treat a good surface appearance as proof that internal imperfections are absent. Retain consumable identity and suitable storage history.

AKREKAL's content connects the welder's implementation record with a control chain usable by production and inspection teams.

Our consultancy service

Let’s turn knowledge into practice in your organisation.

We review your current situation, identify your priorities and provide organisation-specific support for the following work.

01

A welding preparation checklist.

02

A welding records and traceability plan.

03

A nonconformity assessment and action file.

Deliverables, responsibilities and assessment criteria are agreed together when defining the service scope.

Documentation and records

Let’s prepare documents that demonstrate implementation.

One focus of the documentation review is “Instruction scope”. The records are checked for scope, owner, revision and supporting basis so that they accurately reflect the work performed.

The work addresses topic-specific outputs such as “A welding preparation checklist”. Gaps are identified using records actually used by your organisation. Ready-made documents that do not reflect the way you operate are not adopted without adaptation.

About the certification process

Certification and assessment conditions

Training participation, practical competence and product or organisational certification involve different assessments. For Welder, we clarify which activity, person or product the requested certificate covers and the assessment on which it is based. Requirements of the scheme owner or relevant body are reviewed for the agreed scope. AKREKAL provides training and preparation consultancy; it does not guarantee an authorised third party’s certification decision or outcome.

Service scope

AKREKAL provides training and implementation consultancy in this area. Training does not replace independent certification or professional authorisation. Technical activities are planned with suitable equipment and working conditions.

Before you decide

Does attending welding training replace independent qualification certification?

Training develops practical knowledge. Required experience, examinations and independent certification conditions are assessed separately under the relevant authorised programme; training does not automatically confer authorisation.

How does consultancy support proceed after training?

Work can begin with the welding preparation checklist. Test jointly prepared records through a practical example, identify gaps and responsibilities, and define follow-up actions. Clarify the work's scope together with your business.
